A: Ulna fracture appears to be healing.
P: Change wing wrap in 3 d with PT. Repeat x-rays in 1 week. Ok to end calcium slurry as bird is an aspiration risk and bone seems to be healing well.

O: Gave meds PO. Refused to swallow and kept bringing meds back up into mouth. R wing wrap a little loose but in place and hadn't been messed with. Dropped 82g chopped rat for baby + 72g rat, chx, fish for adult. Came back with additional 73g chick after baby ate almost everything without leaving any for adult. Total of 227g Terbinafine: 0.60 cc (50 mg/ml compounded ) PO Calcium Slurry: 2.03 cc (100 mg/ml) PO
A: Leaving wrap alone. Interacting well with baby and even let him eat his fill before going and eating the rest.

Weight: 1404.0 grams, BCS: 4.0 S: Trying to escape transport box and foot for catch. R wing kept getting stuck in front of bird. Kept trying to flare in hand. Tried to hop away and flare defensively when put in cage but was a little wobbly from torb/simbadol.
O: Gave 0.28cc torb IM at beginning of exam due to immediately noted fx to R ulna. Performed intake exam and radiographs. ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: BAR Temp (F): 105.3 Dehydration (%): 5 Neurologic: NSF Head/mouth/beak: NSF Ears: NSF Eyes: OD: Debris and air bubbles over medial half. Medial and caudal edge appeared to have retinal detatchment, view partially obscured by debris so difficult to assess extent. Not menacing on either side when it came to reacting to an approaching object, but would follow me with head as I moved side to side. Eye size looked slightly asymmetrical with OD appearing slightly larger Wings: Fx to mid R ulna. Radius feels intact. Surrounding tissue swollen. Small abrasion over ventral R carpus. Legs: L hip laxer than R Feet: Covered in dried blood Body: Large brood patch over entire chest and abdomen Feather condition: Good. Molting some flight feathers Ectoparasites: None seen Radiographic findings: Confirmed fx to R mid-shaft ulna with intact radius. R carpus looks slightly abnormal, but still felt normal upon further palpation. Initial treatment: Placed R wing in figure-8 of cast padding and vet wrap. Gave 0.47cc meloxicam PO + 0.23cc simbadol IM + 0.62cc terbinafine PO + 2.1cc Calcium Slurry + 60cc LRS SQ in R inguinal. Placed in cage in main bird room
A: Likely hit by vehicle patient with a fractured right ulna and mild ocular trauma. Seemed visual from both eyes, but difficult to assess menace response due to defensive posturing. R ulna fx is currently in good alignment and mid-shaft location makes it more likely that will heal with just conservative management. Large brood patch indicates that patient likely had babies and active nest, but unfortunately won't be able to be returned to it. May be a good candidate for fostering baby RTHAs while in care. Very defensive, will likely quickly be assigned Red handling designation. Reluctant to swallow meds, aspiration risk.
P: Change R wing wrap in 2d along with vet check, then change E3D. Take follow up rads in 5d to make sure alignment in maintaining and doesn't require surgery. Collect blood and fecal tomorrow. Rx meloxicam, tramadol, terbinafine, and calcium slurry. Monitor vision. Offer food tonight then SF in AM, HF in PM if DNE starting 5/7
